Default Paint flaking off Megan Racing coilover springs

I was putting on my other wheels today, and gave the suspension a quick inspection.

I noticed the black paint is flaking off of at least one spring (driver's side rear). At this point, it's about a 1" area of paint that's come off, and now the metal is rusting.

Anyone else having any issues?

Are your springs getting able to move at all, like maybe they need more preload? When the suspension is unloaded (rebound), maybe they are a bit loose and able to rotate a bit?

I've only had springs lose paint where the coils make contact with each other. We also don't really get any salt on the roads down here, so probably not nearly as corrosive to springs as some places.

Yeah, coil are not supposed to rust but, when they touch each other, the paint fall off and begin to rust.

if you want to protect the spring, buy some brush-on electrical tape. it's sticky and flexible.

• I can't preload the rear springs; there's no adjustment for it. And, FYI, I've got the perches nearly all the way up.

• We don't get salt on our roads in Oregon.

So far as I can tell, it's just one spring. It's about an inch of finish that's come off.
